Chancellor Sunak announced this afternoon in his budget that the stamp duty period for properties up to 500,00 will be extended until 30th June – it was due to finish on March 31st. From 1st July until 30th September it will apply on properties up to £250,000 and then from October 1st it will return to the pre covid levels.

Also announced is a mortgage guarantee from next month to help first-time buyers get 95% mortgages on properties up to the value of £600,000.
